This is just a gentle reminder that the Mid-Atlantic Regional meeting is occurring now!

March 13–15, 2013
Sheraton Baltimore Center City
Baltimore, MD, USA

The theme for the 2013 annual meeting is "Religious Experience Through the Senses." We invite members to explore religion through the various ways it is expressed through sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.

The program includes:

  • MAR-AAR members in all stages of education are invited and encouraged to attend a Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion workshop on Wednesday evening, March 13. This workshop is specially designed to assist with the creation and design of introductory courses in theology, biblical and religious studies, and related fields. Wabash consultants will present strategies for designing learning aims and course goals, crafting assessments, and relating the introductory course to institution-specific demands. The cost of the workshop and dinner are already included in the conference fee. Please indicate your plans to attend in your conference registration
  • Assessment Workshop. For current faculty, the meeting will include a mini-workshop on understanding, defining, and using assessment in your courses. As we are under increased pressure to assess our courses, it is important that faculty have an opportunity to: 1) Identify questions and concerns; 2) Understand strategies to implement good assessment that supports teaching and learning; and 3) Hear about best practices from colleagues
  • A dynamic plenary from S. Brent Rodriguez-Plate, Hamilton College, who will present aspects of his current research and book on the subject of religious experiences and the senses

  • Several networking events for all members of the region, from senior scholars to graduate students
