Religion and Ecology Print

Call for Proposals

This Group is seeking papers or panels on several themes:

  • Ecological evil
  • Time — linear, cyclical, seasonal, mythic, no time
  • Ecological restoration and service learning
  • Rio + 20
  • Queer ecologies
  • Exploring, in a cosponsored session with the Religion and Disability Studies Group, intersections of environmental crisis and disability — the social/religious refiguring of disability in light of the Anthropocene, the relationship between environmental health, toxics, and disability, and critical race/class implications of how bodies are affected by environmental risk

Mission

This Group critically and constructively explores how human–Earth relations are shaped by religions, cultures, and understandings of nature and the environment. We are self-consciously inter- and multidisciplinary and include methods such as those found in the work of theologians, philosophers, religionists, ethicists, scientists, and anthropologists, among others.

Anonymity of Review Process

Proposals are anonymous to Chairs and steering committee members until after final acceptance/rejection.
