Call for Proposals

This Group invites proposals in all areas related to disability and religion. We are particularly interested in paper proposals on the following themes:

  • Deaf theology/studies

  • Disability studies perspectives on transhumanism

  • International perspectives on religion and disability studies

  • Disability studies and pastoral care

  • Feminist/womanist perspectives on disability and embodiment

  • For a possible cosponsored session with the Body and Religion Group, chronic pain, disability, spirituality, and religion

  • For a possible cosponsored session with the Animals and Religion Group, disability studies, animal studies, and the study of religion

Mission

This Group is committed to maintaining the visibility, viability, and value of the experience and politics of disability as they relate to the study and practice of religion. Meaningful inclusion of the experience of persons with disabilities is a critical component in the scholarly study of religion.

Anonymity of Review Process

Proposer names are visible to Chairs but anonymous to Steering Committee members.
