Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum

The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum and its signature 1884 Baldwin Roundhouse is a unique venue unlike any other. Here, you can explore one of the most impressive and extensive railroad collections in the world. Dating back to the earliest roots of American railroading, the assemblage comprises vintage locomotives and rolling stock, historic buildings, and small objects illustrating the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's impact on the American transportation landscape. Baltimore Museum of Art

The Baltimore Museum of Art is home to an internationally-renowned collection of nineteenth century, modern, and contemporary art. Founded in 1914 with a single painting, the Baltimore Museum of Art today has 90,000 works of art — including the largest holding of works by Henri Matisse in the world. Throughout the museum, visitors will find an outstanding selection of European and American fine and decorative arts, fifteenth through nineteenth century prints and drawings, contemporary art by established and emerging contemporary artists, and objects from Africa, Asia, the Ancient Americas, and Pacific Islands. Two beautifully landscaped gardens display an array of twentieth century sculpture that is an oasis in the city. Adults: Free.

George Peabody Library

This temple of terrific tomes makes for a memorable group getaway, particularly for book lovers and architecture buffs. Home to more than 300,000 editions, many of them from the nineteenth century, the library is unquestionably one of the most striking of its kind in the United States, if not the entire world. Located on the Peabody campus of Johns Hopkins University, the structure was completed in 1878 with a unique Neo-Greco interior highlighted by black-and-white marble flooring and an ornamental skylight set above elaborate columns and balconies. The collections are available for public use, adding to the venue's allure as an appealing but often overlooked attraction.

Geppi's Entertainment Museum

Geppi's Entertainment Museum is a journey through 250 years of American pop culture, located in historic Camden. Where else can you revisit your childhood and get back in touch with old friends that entertained you in the past through comic strips and books, radio and television shows, films, cartoons, and so much more? The museum exhibits nearly 6,000 pop culture artifacts, including comics, toys, dolls, games, and memorabilia of every conceivable category. Journey from the late 1700s to the present day and revisit favorite characters like Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, Mickey Mouse, Barbie, G. I. Joe, and many more. Geppi's Entertainment Museum is the home of "pop culture with character!" Adults: $10.

Jewish Museum of Baltimore

The Jewish Museum of Baltimore is America's leading museum of regional Jewish history, culture, and community. The museum is located in downtown Baltimore, blocks from the Inner Harbor. Here at the museum, visitors can uncover the roots of Jewish history in our landmark historic sites – the Lloyd Street Synagogue, built in 1845 and now the nation’s third oldest surviving synagogue, and B'nai Israel Synagogue, built in 1876 and still home to a vibrant congregation. Our museum campus includes three exhibition galleries featuring fascinating and diverse exhibitions that explore in depth the Jewish American experience. National Great Blacks in Wax Museum

The National Great Blacks in Wax Museum is among the nation’s most dynamic cultural and educational institutions. Because it is a wax museum committed solely to the study and preservation of African American history, it is also among the most unique. The presentation of life-size, life-like wax figures highlighting historical and contemporary personalities of African ancestry defines its uniqueness. This museum, the first one of wax in Baltimore and the first wax museum of African American history in the nation, is the brainchild of Elmer and Joanne Martin. The museum was established in 1983. Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture

Visitors will learn how 200 years of slavery wrenched and sometimes broke the bonds of family and community among African Americans in Maryland. Men, women, and children were torn from their loved ones, isolated, and sold to strangers. Yet Maryland’s African Americans continuously renewed these bonds of family and community. Black Marylanders created tools for survival and self-determination, proving the power of their commitment to one another by rebuilding families and sustaining communities of worship, neighborhoods, towns, and social organizations. Adults: $8.

This 22,000 square-foot museum includes exhibits devoted to Johnny Unitas, the Baltimore Orioles and Colts, and Baltimore's Negro Leagues, as well as the Maryland Terrapins and college athletics. Walters Art Museum

The Walters Art Museum is internationally-renowned for its collection of art.
