  • Responses to Falguni A. Sheth’s Toward a Political Philosophy of Race (State University of New York Press, 2009) and/or the work of Achille Mbembe

  • Recent Continental philosophies of “life” (Serres, Cavarero, Esposito, Mbembe)

  • Queer(ing) continental philosophy and theology

  • Responses to Elisabeth Weber’s Living Together: Jacques Derrida's Communities of Violence and Peace (Fordham University Press, 2012)

  • Theological analyses of recent Continental reassessments of Hegel (e.g., Malabou and Zizek)

  • For a cosponsored session with the Theology and Religious Reflection Section, a roundtable discussion of Judith Butler’s Parting Ways: Jewishness and the Critique of Zionism (Columbia University Press, 2012)

  • Theological topoi (e.g., forgiveness, embodiment/incarnation, transcendence/immanence) considered in dialogue with Continental philosophers

As always, we invite proposals for individual papers, papers sessions, or roundtables on other topics of interest, especially on emerging figures in continental philosophy.

Mission

This Group seeks to further discussions at the intersection of post-Kantian philosophy in its various permutations with historical and contemporary theological reflection. While we remain centered on continental European thought on the philosophical side, the term “theology” in our parlance extends to critical reflection on a range of religions worldwide. Contact the Program Unit Chairs if you seek further information on the Group’s activities.

Anonymity of Review Process

Proposer names are visible to Chairs but anonymous to Steering Committee members.
