Call for Proposals

This Consultation brings together scholars working on premodern Judaism, Christianity, and Islam to examine questions of comparison and influence in a geographically and temporally defined context. We invite paper and panel proposals on all subjects related to the medieval and early modern Mediterranean world. We especially encourage papers on the following topics:

  • Orthodoxy and its limits
  • Individual and communal identity
  • The permeability of religious or geographic borders
  • Religion and law in the medieval Mediterranean (for a possible cosponsored session with the Law, Religion, and Culture Group)

Mission

This Consultation provides a venue for scholars of premodern Judaism, Christianity, and Islam to examine questions of comparison and influence in a geographically and temporally defined context.

Anonymity of Review Process

Proposals are anonymous to Chairs and Steering Committee Members during review, but visible to Chairs prior to final acceptance or rejection.
