Call for Proposals

This Group is interested in the following topics:

  • Methods of reading and interpreting the Bible in racial, ethnic minority, and indigenous communities. Studies utilizing tools from the history of religion, ethnography, literary studies, cultural or social criticism, and postcolonial studies that query the ways in which the Bible has been used in various life settings, activities, movements, locales, and historical periods are particularly welcome

  • The ways in which the Bible has been or is currently brought into conversation with other texts and traditions in racial, ethnic, and indigenous communities

Mission

This interdisciplinary Group emphasizes traditions of reading and interpreting the Bible in racial, ethnic minority, and indigenous communities. We welcome perspectives utilizing such diverse methodologies as the history of religion, ethnography, literary studies, cultural or social criticism, and postcolonial studies in investigating how the Bible has been used in preaching, storytelling, religious education, transmission of values, and social movements in various historical periods.

Anonymity of Review Process

Proposer names are visible to Chairs and Steering Committee members at all times.
