Pentecostal-Charismatic Movements Print

Call for Proposals

This Consultation invites proposals for individual papers or fully developed panels on the following themes:

  • Healing in global Pentecostalism
  • Pentecostals in the public square — from Pat Robertson to Sarah Palin
  • Emerging feminisms within global Pentecostal movements (for a possible cosponsored session with the Feminist Theory and Religious Reflection Group)
  • Contemporary Christian music and/or the varied aspects of the global praise and worship culture (for a possible cosponsored session with the Evangelical Theology Group)

Papers and panels should feature new methods and theoretical approaches to the scholarly examination of Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, past and present. We welcome both descriptive (historical, social scientific) and constructive (theological) approaches.

Mission

This Consultation provides a forum for scholarly consideration of global phenomena associated with Pentecostalism and charismatic movements. We provide an arena for a wide array of scholars, disciplinary orientations, and methodological approaches bringing together those working constructively from within these traditions with scholars considering the phenomena from historical, sociological, ethnographic, theological, and other perspectives. We intentionally seek to encourage a global and pluralist perspective.

Anonymity of Review Process
